When it comes to family vacations, it can be hard to please everyone. You want to relax, your little ones want constant adventure, and your older kids—well, they roll their eyes at every activity you suggest. One way to make everyone happy when you’re visiting Jackson Hole is with a Snake River float trip. You’ll get to unwind a bit, the kids can spot wildlife, and even the most jaded teens will be enchanted by the view. Floating the Snake River in Jackson Hole is a great way to bring the family together and make memories that will last a lifetime.

Best Scenic Float Trips on Snake River

Not all scenic float trips are the same and choosing the wrong one can put a damper on your vacation. Some hire novice guides who don’t know the area. Others treat their Jackson Hole float trips like a conveyor belt, ushering in one group after another to maximize profits, caring little for guest experience.

JHWW is different. We’re highly rated by our guests because we offer a unique experience compared to other Teton scenic float tours. When you take a JHWW float trip on Snake River, you’ll traverse a 13-mile stretch of the river that we’ve chosen especially for our journey because of its unparalleled views of the Tetons. Our fun, engaging guides are the best in the business, with in-depth knowledge about the wildlife, ecology, geology, and history of the Jackson Hole area.

We think of every detail, including providing our guests with high-powered Bushnell binoculars to help them enjoy the scenery, windbreakers in case of unexpected rain, and a lunch with gluten-free, vegetarian, and vegan options—and yes, there’s even a homemade cookie inside. We’ve been in operation since 1963 because we deliver the best scenic float trips for families in Jackson Hole.

Booking a Snake River Float Trip

If you’ve decided to book a float trip for your family with JHWW, it’s a good idea to book now—our schedule fills up quickly each season, so make your reservations as soon as you know the dates you’ll be in Jackson Hole. Our season starts in early spring with one daily scenic float trip at 9:45am; at the end of May, we add a second daily trip and during high season, we add a sunset trip too. High season ends in late August, and then we drop back down to two tours a day, with a single morning float trip from mid-September to October.

Unlike whitewater rafting, you won’t get wet on a scenic float trip, so all we ask is that you wear comfortable clothing. It can be chilly on the river at times, so you might want to wear layers. If you’d like to capture some photos of your trip down the river, bring a camera too.
