Keeping things ‘Classy’
River Rapid classification explained
The International Scale of River Difficulty (ISRD) helps gauge the intensity of rapids, giving you an idea of what to expect. While it’s not an exact science, it’s useful! And don’t let those fancy Roman numerals throw you off—they simply represent levels 1-6 (because who needs to speak Roman numerals, right?).

"Our whitewater rafting experience with Jackson Hole Whitewater was exhilarating! The guides were knowledgeable and made us feel safe every step of the way."

Whoosh! What fun!
I went with a bike touring group. The Snake River water level was low but there were still fun rapids with lots of splash. I rented the jacket wetsuit for $5 and highly recommend it. I also recommend using the offered windbreaker. Everyone, those in the office and the guide, were upbeat and pleasant. You can leave dry clothes on the bus when on the river. The office has a place to change into those dry clothes when you get back. Do it!
First Time. Best Time!
We are a family of four with no prior white water rafting experience. We had an amazing experience with a great guide, Wiggy, who was so interesting (she’s rafted waters around the world!) and knowledgeable. She was engaging and totally focused on our safety at all times. We never felt in jeopardy! We were even able to jump out of the boat and do some swimming. It was a spectacular outing. Truly unforgettable.
Beautiful day on the river
After spending a spectacular day driving through the Grand Tetons National Park, we thought that nothing could equal that experience. But our long float trip down the Snake River the next day guided by the wonderful Rosanna was spectacular in a more peaceful and contemplative way. The raft was comfortable with a bit of scrambling getting in and out, but staff were very helpful, even for 80+ year old me. … Thanks for a terrific experience.
